ナナカマド（七竃）: Japanese Rowan

【ナナカマド、ナデシコ: Japanese Rowan, Dianthus】

今週の花材、ナナカマドは難しかった。お稽古の時間めいっぱい使って仕上げた。「ナナカマドの枝の美しいところを見つけ、どうやってその特徴を強調しつつも全体のバランスをとるか。」が今回の課題だった気がする。結果として左側に重しになるようにナルコユリやらをくしゃくしゃっといれて伸びやかな枝とのコントラストを強調。ナデシコは全体のふんわり感を助長するように入れた。

試行錯誤しすぎて集中力が切れて枝をダメになってしまうかと思ったら、何とか最後に今回の課題の解決法を見つけた。まさに生みの苦しみだったわ。でも、よかったー。いつもならくちゃくちゃになっちゃうとこだったのに。自分でも久々のヒットで気に入ってます。

Japanese rowan was pretty difficult one to tackle. It has beautiful fresh green leaves on narrow wavy branches. I love the look, but is hard to balance with other flowers as it is rather slim and doesn't give much body to the whole.

I somewhat found a way to resolve this problem by enhancing the character of this branch, and created a small bunch of flowers with other materials (Solomon's seal, Dianthus, some leftover branch of Japanese rowan) to balance the long wavy stems on the right.
